L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

L’Oréal Foundation Review

Some makeup products feel particularly suited to the summer season. Cushion foundations are one of those, whether it’s the travel-friendly nature of the packaging or the lightweight luminous finish, they are ideal for the summer makeup bag. Originally a Korean beauty trend, cushion foundations gained worldwide popularity back in 2016 with cosmetics brands all scrambling to launch their own versions in the years since. Typically lighter in coverage with a dewy finish they are a great option for most, suited to all skin types and all ages.

Since 2016, L’Oréal has got in on the act launching several versions including this one, the L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation. This is an exceptional base product. Light in feel but with more coverage than most cushion foundations, hydrating, flattering on texture and lines, applies like a dream. Also: glowy. But glowy in a lit from within way, via pearlescent properties, rather than from an excessively dewy finish. Very similar to the Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation, but easier to apply. Applied with a brush dipped straight into the cushion, it glides on fast and flawless.

The bad news is that it’s been discontinued. L’Oréal, along with the rest of the beauty industry (not to mention consumers), love a new product launch. Many product lines, no matter how fantastic, are cleared to make way for the insatiable appetite for newness. The good news is that this means you can often find discontinued makeup at discounted prices, including this absolute gem which is currently available at Fragrance Direct for £4.99. Discovered it when searching for another excellent but discontinued product, the L’Oréal Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil Bronzer.

If you wear foundation, you need one. In your handbag, desk drawer, travel washbag. Or in your hand, of a morning when in a rush. Best five pounds you’ll ever spend.

I am usually so skeptical about these types of foundations because they seem like they would be difficult to apply evenly? But I might have to give this one a try!
