These Bobbi Brown lipsticks are awesome. Really unusual. The colour isn’t completely opaque, more like a stain, but with the texture of a balm. A very light balm. A balm with a matte finish. Or demi-matte, you know, soft but most definitely not shiny.
They are from the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour range and the unusual formula is the result of combining dense crushed pigments with moisturising ingredients Vitamins C and E and beeswax. I have the shades Ruby, a deep plum, and Babe, a classic rose shade and they are both exceptional.
One of the best things about them is how flattering they are on dry lips, particularly for a satin matte finish. Disguises and hydrates dry patches, even the darker shade. Because the first application isn’t fully opaque, it’s an easy way to wear bolder colours. Plus they build beautifully so you can add another coat for more colour pay off, closer to that of a regular lipstick, if you feel it needs a boost.
They don’t feather or smudge, I don’t feel the need to use a lip liner with either shade. And they last. Not long-wear, but longer wearing than a regular cream lipstick. The fade is perfect too, nice and even, no crumbling, no inner lip tide line. A matte lipstick that feels like a balm, disguises dryness and lasts. Basically, the dream.
