I have approximately two baths per year. Don’t be alarmed, I assure you I am squeaky clean. Just more of a shower person.
There is nothing more cheering than a few minutes peace in a hot shower with a beautifully scented spendy shower gel. I implore you to treat yourself to one. Particularly if you’ve recently had a baby and showering feels like a great achievement (it is). Buy one at 3am and have it delivered to your door.
Scent preferences are interesting as they are so personal. For me there are two levels of smells good. The first tier are things that smell lovely. Perfumes, candles, suncream. Scents that remind you of things – people, parties, holidays, Christmas.
But the top tier is a different league. These are scents that smell so great that they immediately alter your mood, like they have triggered your happy brain chemicals.
Of course, this experience is incredibly personal. What totally does it for me in the olfactory manner might not please you at all. There is no right or wrong. There is also no accounting for taste – the nose wants what it wants.
The scent of this Neal’s Yard Geranium and Orange Shower Gel, £14, is, for me, top tier smells good. Which is how I justify using such a spendy shower gel. Used each morning in the shower it makes me feel immediately happier and uplifted. Which really, is kind of priceless.
Til next time,
