The liquid lipstick love is strong. This trend is going nowhere. The latest incarnation is lip kits. A liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner, sold as a duo.
The Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits were sell outs, but if you don’t live in the States they are hard to come by. Waiting lists, shipping costs, customs tax. Hassle.
So the British highstreet has answered our lip kit prayers. The Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit in Pose, £6.99, is a budget friendly, easy to acquire option. One pencil style lip liner, one liquid lipstick.
The box is your shade guide. Do not be fooled by the pale pink in-tube shade. Most liquid lips dry a couple of shades darker than they apply. This one dries about ten shades darker. It crazy. When you first put it on it is so light, and looks a bit mad, but gradually dries down to a perfect match for the liner.
And what a great lip liner it is. A creamy, long wearing lip pencil. Lovely. This liquid lipstick formula is pretty good too. It is drying. I can’t tell you otherwise, but drying in the way that all liquid lipsticks are. Settles into lines, does the inner lip tide line thing when it dries. Sure.
The formula is very thin and very opaque, so one coat is perfect. And the finish is über matte, no tack, no transfer.
It isn’t as long wearing as you might expect. 2-3 hours rather than an all day situation. But it wears well, fades nicely and reapplies without getting crumbly.
And this colour, Pose, is fab. A pinky brown your lips but better nude.
If you are a liquid lipstick lover, it’s worth a look.
Til next time,
