Look what I’ve found! It’s back.
Did you miss it the first time round? I missed it. One minute it’s all over the beautysphere, the next it’s gone. Limited edition, never coming back. And everyone loves it. Rave reviews. But you can’t have it, the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette, £49, because it’s sold out.
I don’t know about you, but I have to think about pricey beauty buys. I don’t storm straight in, I like to consider my options. Lust after it for a while.
But I wanted this one. Decision made. It gets so much done so quickly, your 5 minute face right there. When you need to get ready in a flash, you’ve no time for opening a bunch of different pots, palettes, compacts. You need it all, at your finger tips.
I have been achieving this with a Z Palette. My homemade instant face in a palette. If you don’t know what a Z Palette is, let me fill you in. It’s an empty make up palette. The idea is you remove the actual make up from the clunky packaging it comes in, and pop it into one palette, so it’s all in one place. Let me show you.
Space-saving, customised, efficient. Except that you have to get the suckers out. Time-consuming, messy, perilous. This process is called de-potting, and is, essentially, trying to prise the metal makeup pans out of their plastic homes by any means possible. But those pans are stuck in good. The best method I have found is placing them on a baking tray in an oven and waiting until the glue gets hot and becomes loose, or the packaging melts freeing the pans.
What starts as good fun soon becomes a right chore, once you’ve stabbed yourself a bunch of times, burnt yourself on tiny hot metal tins of eyeshadow, and ruined your manicure. Or worse, you manage to smash a favourite (RIP Mac Texture).
So these days, I look for a palette that has it all. And this Charlotte Tilbury palette is close to that: 3 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, 1 highlighter. All powder. A lot of face products in one handy compact.
So imagine my delight when, browsing the John Lewis website, I happened upon this little treasure! It’s back. It has a slightly different name, but it’s him alright. But wait, there’s more. It’s the same price as the original, but now comes with a free mini mascara. It’s karma, no? Good makeup karma. For my restraint the first time.
My issue now is that I’ve just had my birthday, and it’s 8 weeks til Christmas. So not the time for self gifting. So I’ve shown it to The Husband. I’ve tried to impress upon him the urgency of the situation, but he made the same face I imagine I make when he tries to tell me about his fantasy football team’s performance.
If you want it too, move fast dear friends. The Charlotte Tilbury Seductive Instant Look In A Palette & Legendary Lashes Makeup Gift Set is £49 and exclusive to John Lewis. Get it here. Just try not to beat me to it.
Til next time,
