Wet n Wild Photofocus Concealer

This concealer is good. Very good. The texture is spot on. If the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is the highstreet’s answer to the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, then this is the Tarte Shape Tape. It has a very similar texture to the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, thin and fluid but with lots of pigment, and the same soft matte finish. It doesn’t have as much coverage – the Tarte is the gold standard of concealer, in my opinion – but this is as close as it’s gets.

Paired with the excellent Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation and you have quite the combo, a finish comparable to significantly more expensive brands. In addition to the formula the other thing that sets these Wet n Wild products apart are the shades. I use Soft Beige in the foundation and Light Ivory in the concealer for what is probably the best colour match I have ever achieved at the drugstore. Not too ruddy, not too orange.

The only thing I dislike about this concealer is that the packaging makes it tricky to get at the product. It’s regular concealer packaging, a tube with doe foot applicator, but the doe foot is very small and the opening to the tube very tight so the stopper scrapes off most of the concealer as you pull it out. The opposite of the Tarte packaging, with the enormous doe foot which picks up too much product. Not a huge issue I grant you, but you do need to double dip, so to speak, annoying but not a deal breaker.

Shall we have a quick chat about price? Have been testing these products for a while and had forgotten just how incredible the price point is for Wet n Wild. The foundation is £5.99 and the concealer £3.99. That’s unreal isn’t it? Properly excellent formulas at a proper low price.

Til next time,
