The unthinkable has happened. Makeup bag, gone. What do you rush out and replace? Asked myself this question and here they are, my most recommended, the products I cannot be without.
FOUNDATION
Who’d have thought it, this £5.99 foundation from Wet n Wild is my current fave. If it was lost or, more likely, smashed it would be immediately replaced. Am a cheap date after all. If you can’t find your shade, try No7 Stay Perfect Foundation, another long term love.
Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation, £4.99, here.
No7 Stay Perfect Foundation, £15, here.
CONCEALER
You can’t buy it in a store, not in the UK, but the Tarte Shape Tape is the gold standard of concealer and would be ordered next day delivery in a flash.
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer, £23, here.
POWDER
No7 is my absolute favourite pressed powder for dry skin. Other skin types might prefer the more mattifying Charlotte Tilbury.
No7 Airbrush Away Flawless Finishing Powder, £13.50, here.
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Finishing Powder, £35, here.
BRONZER
Must have two bronzers at all times. One matte, one shimmery, one from Tarte, one from Hourglass, both high end. Not such a cheap date after all.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess, £25, here.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light, from £22, here.
BLUSHER
Tarte also make the very best powder blushers, in my opinion, though H&M come a close second. For cream formulas, the Glossier Cloud Paints are the wickedy shiz.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush, £25, here.
H&M Powder Blusher, £8.99, here.
Glossier Cloud Paint, £15, here.
HIGHLIGHTER
Thought it had been discontinued but the makeup gods have answers my prayers. The Topshop Glow Liquid Highlighter is back, now in snazzy gold packaging. Better than the Cover FX version and less than half the price.
Topshop Glow Liquid Highligher, £15, here.
MASCARA
All of Clinique’s mascaras are good. They might not be the most dramatic, but they sure are easy – easy to put on, easy to take off, easy to avoid smudging.
Clinique High Impact Mascara, £20, here.
EYEBROWS
Have yet to find it, the perfect brow product, though this Beauty Pie pencil is super. Soft, natural looking and easy to use, if a little warm in tone.
Beauty Pie Superbrow Fine Precision Pencil, £3.42 (members price), here.
LIPSTICK
Am not one to play favourites with my lipsticks. But which would be the first to be replaced? The perfect nude from Clinique and a couple of the £2.99 long-wearing lovelies from Collection, one pretty pink, the other a rosie red.
Clinique Pop Lip Colour and Primer in Beige Pop, £17.50, here.
Collection Velvet Kiss Moisturising Lip Creams, £2.99, here.
EYESHADOW
More often than not, I use my bronzer as eyeshadow. If I’m going out, the By Terry Ombré Blackstar in the shade Bronze Moon is the quickest, easiest route to a smokey eye. Scribble all over the lid and blend at the crease.
By Terry Ombré Blackstar in Bronze Moon, from £15, here.
There we have it, my holy grail makeup items, the things that I think are the best of the best. Tell me, what are yours?
Til next time,
Hayley

As I fellow dry skinned gal I’ve never really got on with bronzers (I avoid powders). But I’m a convert since funding Milk bronzing stuck.in baked. It’s gorgeous! I just look glowy and we’ll with it on. Have you tried it?
My other can’t live without products are the cheap as chips Collection Concealer, and L’Oréal Paradise Mascara. Xx
