Blazer Glory

Have been searching for a blazer for a while now. Have tried a great many on and got close, but no cigar. Posh ones, charity shop ones, supermarket sweep ones. Online shopping ones that I’d seen on fashion bloggers, then had to return to the post office in giant boxes. Met a lovely one in Reiss, beautifully made but not right, too fitted, too formal (not to mention too expensive). The blazer I’m looking for is not a work wear item. More casual than that, something you can chuck on over a T-shirt and jeans. Needs that oversized, masculine cut, a slightly longer length, the perfect tweedy fabric, almost certainly double-breasted. The Goldilocks of blazers.

Well this Goldilocks has found her porridge, a blazer that is, thankfully, just right. Having missed jeans and T-shirt season, I decided to size up so that it can be worn over a little cashmere jumper with a big scarf as a coat alternative as we move into the winter months. It falls just right when worn open, with it’s boxy straight lines, though you can also do it up should you fancy. (Am a big fan of that look, a buttoned up oversized blazer over jeans or a cropped trouser.)

Here he is in all his blazer glory. If you are also loving the blazer trend, do check this one out, it’s the M&S Italian Wool Checked Double Breasted Blazer, £69. I feel like Marks & Spencer’s number one fan at the moment but what can I say, I like their wares, give me a Collection twinset and put me on a coach trip to Bournemouth.

Til next time,

Hayley
