Beauty advent calendars. You want one. But how to choose? So many options, such wildly varying price points. It might not be the most cost effective way of buying beauty products, but it sure is a fun one. My advice? Ignore what they say the contents are worth and instead, focus on what they are worth to you. What do you like and what do you need? Are the full size products right up your street? Have reviewed them all, analysed every last door and drawer and these are my picks, my top three beauty advent calendars of 2019.
THE SPENNY ONE
The Liberty offering is a thing to behold. Beautifully designed in the image of the iconic London store, with individual drawers in the classic Strawberry Thief print that are asking to be refilled for future festive countdowns. Not only is it a thing of beauty, it also contains a whopping 18 full size products and premium brands including Diptyque, Votary, LIXIRSKIN, Le Labo and NARS.

THE GOOD OLD M&S ONE
If in doubt, get the M&S one. Reliably good, they nail it every year, plus it’s competitively priced (usually £35 when you spent £40 on Clothing, Food or Home). Highlights this year include a fantastic selection of full size products – This Works Sleep Together Calming Spray, Aveda Damage Remedy leave-in hair treatment, Prai Throat & Décolletage Night Cream – plus a great selection of decent sized skincare and makeup items from Murad, Stila and Alpha-H.

THE HONOURABLE MENTION ONE (aka THE SOLD OUT ONE)
I feel faintly ridiculously writing a post on advent calendars in October and yet one of the really good ones, the Cult Beauty Advent Calendar (£195), has already gone. It was the first ever advent calendar from the online beauty retailer and with no sign of a restock, it’ll be one to watch out for next year.
THE FASHION ONE
Haven’t seen much press on this one, but the ELLE Beauty Advent Calendar is luxury option at a slightly more accessibility price point. Not only that, it’s designed by fashion designer Bella Freud. We’re talking black box with Fairytale of New York – best Christmas song ever – in gold in classic Bella Freud typography written all over it. Could not be any more my bag. Speaking of, there is a Bella Freud makeup bag behind one of the doors. Plus a Bella Freud Fairytale of New York candle. But what of the beauty products? I hear you cry. How’s does a NARS The Multiple in Orgasm, full size Dr. Sebagh Hyaluronic Acid serum and a mini Marc Jacobs mascara sound? Wait until you see the full contents.

Til next time,

I have been lusting after that Liberty one for the past couple of weeks. Unacceptable self-spending pre festive season? (If the answer to this is yes: anyone want to buy it for me?!)

I can’t justify it myself, but if you can I am delighted for you! H x
