At one point in my life I was very keen on fake tan indeed. A devotee. It took dedication. Topping up every four days. Stained bedsheets. The biscuity smell.
Despite considering myself fairly adept at application, the tell tale streaks would still appear. Ankles, wrists, knuckles. Not my best look.
In recent years my regime has been relatively self tan free. But there are certain occasions – holidays, weddings, the first bare legged day of spring – when only a fake tan will do.
The St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse, £33 full size, is one I hadn’t tried before. So I did, on impulse with no prep. No day before exfoliation, no moisturising of knees and elbows. Hell, I haven’t moisturised my body in months. Months. Just went for it.
I liked it immediately. The mitt rubs the tan in easily and evenly. It has a guide colour so you can see any patches you’ve missed. And the best bit is how quickly it dries, almost instantly. You can dress as soon as you finish. No waving your arms around, that mad fake tan drying dance. No stickiness. Minimal smell. Excellent.
Because it isn’t sticky, it’s quite comfortable to sit around in while it develops. Unlike other self tanners, this one is left on for 1-3 hours, depending on how deep you like your tan, then showered off.
And the results are just perfect. Such a nice natural tan. No streaks or patchiness, despite my slapdash application. I was quite amazed. Lasts for several days and fades well too.
I’ve used it again since with equally great results. No Husband repelling smell. My bedsheets are clean. This is the self tan of dreams.
Game changer.
Til next time,
Hayley
