Doesn’t this look promising? A new concealer kit from Collection. Who make great concealer. The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, £4.19, is super. I reach for it over Clarins, Bobbi, Nars. Amazing at covering blemishes (use a tiny dot and pat in with a finger), but also good under the eyes if you like fuller coverage. Doesn’t crease, long wearing, a cult beauty buy.
The Collection Primed & Ready Concealer Kit, £4.99, looks like the stuff of concealer dreams. A one stop shop. Two creams, one peachy shade perfect for correcting dark circles, one concealer shade. Plus a setting powder and a liquid concealer that looks like a mini Lasting Perfection.
You need to rub the creams between your fingers to warm them up a bit. But then they go on smoothly and do a pretty good job of correcting the under eye area, if a little drying. The powder is translucent, and sets it all in place nicely. And the liquid concealer is indeed a mini Lasting Perfection in shade 1, perfect for covering blemishes and highlighting if you are extremely fair skinned.
Which brings me to an issue. Lasting Perfection comes in just 4 shades. This concealer set? You’re looking at it. Uno.
Even though the shade selection does work for me, ish, I’m not sure I’ll reach for it. Good affordable makeup tends to fall into one of two categories: good for the price, or just plain good. This concealer kit is the former.
But the Lasting Perfection Concealer, the OG, isn’t just good for the price, it’s good full stop. Though we need more shades please. And while we’re asking for stuff, a tube with writing that doesn’t rub off and make your fingers black would be rather nice too.
Til next time,
Hayley
