Had my eye on these wands from Charlotte Tilbury since they launched last year. They just look so easy to use. One highlighter, one contouring product, both in handy little squeeze tubes with sponge tip applicators. Then I found this on the Charlotte Tilbury website, a duo, a special price if you buy the pair.
And they are a doddle to use. You apply the products directly to your face with the sponge, then blend in with a brush. So far so good. As with most Charlotte Tilbury products, the highlighter is nice and refined. Subtle, sophisticated illumination, impossible to get wrong. It lacks a bit of oomph on my skin tone – it’s a lovely light bright champagne shade which probably looks more impactful on medium to deep skin. And it comes in just the one colour.
The contour shade is slightly less successful as the colour is a bit off for my skin tone. It’s definitely a contour shade rather than a bronzer, cool toned not warm, yet it looks a bit odd on me, a bit ruddy. Which is unfortunate because otherwise the formula is lovely, light and easy to blend, sits well on top of foundation.
The other little disappointment is that these tubes are not full of product, they feel full of air when you squeeze them. So I looked it up, 12ml, which feels a bit stingy. I’ve only had them for a few weeks and they are almost finished already, the tubes squished flat as pancakes.
I nearly love them. But they miss the mark slightly, the shades aren’t quite right, the highlighter a bit too subtle for my tastes, the price a bit too steep. I’m glad I’ve tried them. Have enjoyed using them, won’t repurchase.
