Lightweight glowy base, pink on lips and cheeks and a whole lotta bronze. Apparently this is my makeup look of choice this summer. Suddenly realised that I hadn’t used anything else in weeks. The same few products every day. No variety or experimentation. No eyeshadow. This is my look and I’m sticking with it.
Am super happy with everything here. No urge to switch, no urge to shop. Most unusual. Looking at it there’s quite a lot of high end, not so much from the high street. Sorry about that. And of the three more budget friendly products, one has been discontinued and another you can only get in America. But the expensive stuff you can get here! Don’t say I never do anything for you! To the makeup bag…
Could there be a better summer base than the It Cosmetics CC Cream? Wouldn’t use it instead of suncreen, but the SPF 50 feels like good back up. Can be worn sheer or applied with a brush for fuller coverage. Either way it looks like skin. Healthy, glowy skin. Paired with the Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer and you have the dream summer combo. Feels so light, looks so luminous, yet sorts the dark circles. A dusting of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder keeps things glowy not greasy.
Creams and liquids look more natural than powders in bright summer light. Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff gives cheeks the prettiest pop of pink. A liquid bronzer warms up the complexion and adds definition. The L’Oréal Glam Bronze Cushion de Soleil is fantastic but discontinued. Find it on Amazon and hope it’s not a knock off.
Add extra glow with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Moonstone. Subtle enough to put everywhere: cheekbones, brow bone, down the centre of the nose, a dot on the Cupid’s bow and chin.
To dial up the tan a notch I add a little powder bronzer. The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light Bronze is my favourite bronzer of all time. The perfect formula in the perfect shade. Works on everyone from the super pale to medium skin tones. And it’s a bargain. The only issue is that it isn’t available in the UK (*logs back into Amazon, adds to cart*).
Nude or a hint of pink, courtesy of Clinique. Their Pop + Primer Lipsticks come in several finishes. I use Bubblegum Pop, a sheer cool pink tint, and Nude Pop, a more pigmented cream finish. Both hydrate without looking shiny.
EYES + BROWS
A little brow taming with the NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel, then a little mascara. The Clinique Flutter To Full Mascara is the only one I want to wear. I use it on the lowest, most natural setting and love how easy it is to remove. It’s a tubing mascara, so it comes off with warm water and a flannel. Just don’t wear it in a hot tub. Got black flakes everywhere, all over my face, in my hair. Not my best look.
Til next time,
