Wardrobe Stories: Nameplate Necklaces

Twenty years. Two entire decades have passed since Sex And The City first aired. Don’t that make you feel old.

That show was huge. A cultural phenomenon that started major trends. Not just shoes and ‘It’ bags. Drinks, food and jewellery too. Manolo Blahnik, Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. Hermès. Cosmopolitans, cupcakes, brunch. Floral corsages and clutch bags. Nameplate necklaces.

I had one, a Carrie necklace. Wore it every day, for years. Now you can get your name on anything, but then it was more of a novelty. Still love me a bit of personalisation, truth be told. Am a sucker for a monogram.

My OG nameplate necklace broke, in the tragic snagged-on-jumper incident of 2015, and I mourned the loss. Until this week when a replacement arrived in the post*, from online jeweller Ineffabless.

My inner Carrie Bradshaw is thrilled.

Til next time,
