Peonies definitely have a scent. Suede is also a smell, I would say. But blush suede? Not sure I could sniff out blush suede in a rainbow suede line up.
I jest, but it was the name that drew me in. Am pretty basic like that. Not very adventurous when it comes to fragrance. Haven’t got much of a nose as I imagine they say in the perfume business. And though I enjoy the idea of discovering my signature scent, devoting several hours to swanning around fragrance departments is never gonna happen.
So I stick to what I know. Powdery florals, that’s my jam. Though I didn’t want to love this one as much as I do. It is, I think, one of their bestsellers, the one they recommend to brides. How pedestrian. In my mind I am cooler than that. I’d like to smell a bit edgy, masculine almost, a sort of sexy, smoky, sweaty scent. The smell of a woman who spends her nights drinking whiskey in dark bars and getting up to ALL SORTS.
I am a woman who spends her nights sleeping and likes to smell of flowers. C’est la vie. If you are a kindred spirit, or need Mother’s Day gift inspo, do check out the Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne, from £45. It is really lovely. Top note of apple that dries down to a musky floral. And it lasts longer than any scent I have ever tried. I can smell it in the shower the next morning. While I wash away evidence of imaginary evening escapades.
Til next time,
