No7 knows great base. If there’s one thing the brand does well it’s foundation. Have liked every one I’ve tried.
Not sure about the rest of the line. Think the blushes and lipsticks are pretty good. Love the No7 Airbrush Away Finishing Powder. But not tried much else in recent years. Not tempted by the eyeshadow. Would be interested to know if they’ve sorted out their mascaras yet. Based on swatches the bronzers are firmly on my list.
The foundations though, they good. Tried and tested. The No7 Instant Radiance and the No7 Stay Perfect are regular repurchases. And they’ve added a new one to the range. The No7 Lift & Luminate Foundation, £18.
It’s a serum foundation. You’d think a serum foundation would be great for dehydrated skin, but I don’t always get on well with them. Can be very drying. I like the Bourjois one. Found the expensive Bobbi Brown one a bit tricky. But this new one from No7 is just right.
Light to medium coverage, easy to apply, with a natural finish. Wouldn’t describe it as luminous. Less dewy than both the Stay Perfect and the Instant Radiance, though suspect it would be better at oil control.
Less coverage than those other No7 foundations too. It does build a little but this uses a lot of product, so it’s best enjoyed as the light-medium coverage you get from one light layer.
It’s a your skin but better type base. Perfect for a natural look or on a good skin day. Think it will be amazing come summer. Wear time is pretty decent. No issues with excessive oxidisation or transfer. Can see it working for all ages and all skin types too.
Personally, I prefer the other foundations in the No7 line. A little more glowy, a little more coverage, a little more forgiving on dry patches. Also, a little cheaper.
Which brings me to an issue. £18 for a foundation from No7 feels punchy. Though there isn’t much at that price point. Cheaper than your Benefit or MAC. More expensive than Maybelline or L’Oréal. Which actually, feels about right.
No7 Lift & Luminate Foundation is £18 for 30ml, here.
Similar but better than: The Ordinary Serum Foundation, £5.70.
Til next time,
