The priciest in the line up is the Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Gabrielle, £28. Great formula, a classic satin finish, comfortable and flattering but still opaque with one swipe. The formula is stiff enough that it stays in place and lasts well, yet still feels moisturising. An easy-to-wear, classic pillar box red.
Mid Range Marvel:
This red means it. The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso, £16 full size, is not for the faint-hearted. It’s a fiery, bold, bright orangey-red shade. The Stila liquid lipstick formula is pretty good and Beso is one of the best – smooth, opaque, fades nicely and you can reapply without it getting crumbly. Transfer resistant and smudge proof too.
Don’t be fooled by the tiny price tag, the Collection Velvet Kiss Moisturising Lip Cream in Rosie, £2,99, is excellent. Dries matte, like a liquid lipstick, but more comfortable. What you gain in comfort you lose in wear time: it lasts longer than the Chanel, less time than the Stila. It’s a little easier to wear than Beso as the shade is a bit deeper. Flattering.
Til next time,
