Skincare is all about ingredients. A great many products claim to be anti-ageing but unless they contain the good stuff, forget it.
What is the good stuff? Retinol (Vitamin A), Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), AHAs and BHA. The big guns. Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid too. Vitamin C and other antioxidants to a certain extent. That’s about it.
Ingredients are listed by concentration. The higher up the list, the greater percentage in the product. You want to see a decent ingredient somewhere near the top.
So when I spotted this Aldi night cream I was very excited indeed. Because it has good ingredients, proper clinically proven, anti-ageing ones. Niacinamide, right up there, second only to water. Retinyl Palmitate. BHA and AHAs are listed too, but after alcohol and fragrance so unlikely to be of much use. But still. Exciting.
It’s too early to comment on its effectiveness, but it’s lovely to use. A gel-cream texture that is silky smooth and absorbs easily. More like a serum than a night cream. In fact, it’s incredibly similar to the Olay Regenerist 3 Point Super Serum, £29.99, not just in terms of texture but ingredients too. It even has the same peachy smell. And packaging. Major dupe alert.
The Lacura ProRevive Night Cream is one of this week’s Aldi Specialbuys. I don’t know what that means. Maybe it will be more expensive next week. Maybe it will disappear, never to be seen again. What I do know is that this week it costs £3.99 and can be delivered to your house.
